Volunteer Services Update
As we settle into our new home in Preston, we want to say another big thank you to all of our volunteers for your patience, flexibility and continued contribution during the move. We know that changes to locations, routines and processes can take some getting used to, and we really appreciate everyone’s support as we’ve made the transition.
A special thank you goes to Rosanne, Shan and Andrea, who went above and beyond by coming in over the weekend to help with the unboxing and reorganising. Your willingness to pitch in and help get things into shape was very much appreciated!
We’re also pleased to welcome two new members to the volunteer team. Neville Collins has joined us as a new Volunteer Driver, while Mohammad Hosseini has joined as a Volunteer Outing Host. Welcome to LINK, Neville and Mohammad — we’re delighted to have you with us.
Growing our volunteer program
We’re currently recruiting for a Volunteer Program Coordinator to provide additional support within our volunteering space.
This new position reflects the importance LINK places on volunteering and our commitment to ensuring we have the capacity to grow our volunteer program while continuing to provide the best possible support to our existing volunteers. The additional capacity will allow us to build on the work already underway, strengthen our volunteer program and create more opportunities for people to get involved.
We’ll keep you updated as the recruitment progresses and look forward to introducing our new coordinator to you when they join the team.
A new way to volunteer
We’re also looking for volunteers who might be interested in a new Telephone Support Volunteer role.
This is a flexible opportunity for people who would like to dedicate around 2–4 hours on one or more days each week to providing telephone support during particularly busy periods or when staff are away. Ideally, volunteers would commit to regular days and times, helping us ensure we have reliable telephone support when it is needed.
The role could be a great option for volunteers who enjoy talking with people and would like to contribute in a different way. Once volunteers are trained and established in the role, we’ll explore opportunities for some telephone support to be provided from home, using LINK’s digital phone system and LINK-provided equipment where available.
We’re currently seeking Expressions of Interest from volunteers who might be interested in finding out more. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please let us know!
Something to look forward to…
And now that we’re settling into Preston, we’re looking forward to getting everyone together again! We’re planning our next Volunteer Social in September — and this one is going to be a little different!
We’re planning a musical sing-along evening, featuring one of our own volunteer outing hosts, who is a member of a band and is also releasing his own original music. He has kindly offered to perform some classic standards for anyone who would like to listen, sing along, or simply enjoy an evening together.
We’re still finalising the details, so watch this space for the date and more information!
