September and October have been a whirlwind of activity in the Volunteering space. We’ve caught up with volunteer drivers in Thomastown and Hoppers Crossing as part of the Transport Team Toolbox meetings, I’ve led the team on an Outings trip to Lake Nagambie for Bendigo Carers, and I’ve also been busy project managing and doing the layout and design for our new Outings Brochure, which has been submitted for print today.
I’ve also teamed up with Shade from our Business Development Team to represent LINK, with an information table at Senior’s Month Events in both Wyndham and Merri-bek.
Along the way, we’ve brought on 8 new volunteers since the last newsletter. This includes four new drivers for Thomastown and one for Hoppers Crossing. Also, two new Outing Hosts and a Project Manager who is assisting Maurice at our Thomastown office. Please welcome them – they’re also introduced in our New Faces section.
There has also been the excitement of awards announcements, with more to come on the 13th November, when we host our very own LINK Volunteer Awards Dinner. I’m looking forward to sharing the evening with you and your friends & family members. It’s our way of showing our immense thanks and appreciation for all that you do for LINK and the community of people we serve.
This year, the function is being held at the Anglers Tavern in Maribyrnong. If you haven’t already responded, please get back to me by Wednesday 5th so that I can lock in numbers with the venue.
We’re also asking for nominations for a new award in memory of Outing Host Alison Black, who passed away in July of this year. The award is to honour those who, like Alison, face challenges with determination, bring warmth and joy to others and spark positive change in the community.
November will also mark the second of our two annual Volunteer & Community Engagement Subcommittee Meetings, where we review the progress of our volunteer program and look at opportunities and ideas for moving forward. If you have any suggestions, please approach myself or Brett Norman (your volunteer representative on this Committee for 2025) prior to Tuesday 18th November.
Thanks once again for all your efforts and I look forward to celebrating achievements together on 13th November.
