Operations and Compliance Update

January–February Update from the Operations and Compliance Manager

The first two months of the year have been an exciting and important period of learning, planning and strengthening our organisational foundations at LINK Community & Transport.

Since commencing in the role of Operations and Compliance Manager, my initial focus has been to develop a deep understanding of the organisation across all service streams, including Community Transport, Social Support programs and in-home services. This has involved working closely with our team leaders, office staff, support workers and volunteers to better understand how our services operate day to day and how we can continue improving the experience for the people we support.

A significant priority during January and February has been preparing LINK for the transition to the New Aged Care Act 2024. As a registered provider, it is essential that our systems, policies and practices align with evolving regulatory expectations. We have commenced organisation-wide conversations about what these changes mean in practice and how we can embed compliance in a way that supports, rather than complicates, service delivery.

One of the key areas of work has been strengthening our approach to quality and compliance under the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. Together with leadership staff, we have begun planning structured staff training and professional development to ensure everyone understands their role in upholding the Statement of Rights, promoting dignity, and delivering safe, person-centred services. Training enrolments have commenced through our Learning Management System, with further learning opportunities to be rolled out throughout the year to support workforce capability and confidence.

Alongside this, we have been reviewing and improving several internal processes across the organisation. This includes refining intake and assessment practices, strengthening incident reporting pathways, improving documentation standards, and ensuring information recorded in client profiles supports safe service delivery for frontline workers. Enhancing these processes helps ensure staff have the right information at the right time while maintaining strong governance and accountability.

Another important focus has been building a culture of continuous improvement. We have started reviewing existing systems, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, and working collaboratively across teams to make processes clearer and more efficient. These improvements aim to reduce administrative burden while allowing staff to focus on what matters most, supporting our clients and community.

Preparation for upcoming sector changes has also included participation in sector engagement activities and planning attendance at the Support at Home conference to ensure LINK remains informed, connected and ready for future reforms.

What has stood out most over these past months is the dedication of LINK’s workforce. The commitment shown by staff and volunteers to delivering compassionate, high-quality support continues to be the organisation’s greatest strength. The work underway is not simply about compliance; it is about strengthening systems so that our teams feel supported and our clients continue to receive safe, respectful and meaningful services.

I look forward to continuing this journey with everyone as we build a strong, future-ready organisation together.
